The
Multimedia Information and Technology Group
aims to unite CILIP members engaged in or interested in multimedia information
and technology developments in library and information science, and to enable
communication between them, to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experience
and the promotion of their professional interests. Members come from all types
of library and information units, their common interests being the acquisition,
application and use of multimedia resources in disseminating information and
the effective use of appropriate technology. The provision and development of
audio, film, video, computer software services and the internet in libraries;
copyright and legal deposit of multimedia materials; and the value of
information technology as an aid to service delivery and management are major
matters of concern. The Group also aims to ensure that its members are aware of
developments, applications and future trends so that they can make informed
choices.
