INTRODUCTION
The
main publication of the Multimedia Information and Technology Group
is its quarterly journal "Multimedia information and technology
(MmIT)" (the result of a merging of "The Audiovisual Librarian:
multimedia information" and "ITs News" in 1998). The full journal
is freely available to all members via the Internet. If members
also require paper copies of the full journal, these are available
in return for a contribution to the printing and distribution costs,
currently pegged at one fifth of the full subscription rate. The
full journal has 300 additional subscribers in some 50 countries
and has a circulation of 8,300 copies each issue.
MmIT
contains regular sections covering diary, news, technology, and
publications; reviews of books and multimedia; a useful bibliographic
update; reports of conferences; a resume of technical developments
likely to have implications for libraries and information services;
and a range of articles.
